Chasing 7s: Twin Turbo Coyote Powered SVO

There’s a lot of blathering about which engine should go under the hood of which car, and we have featured plenty of fast LSx powered Mustangs. This one, however, is different. What your eyes see here is a Coyote powered SVO. Some purists may wet their cheeks about cutting up an SVO, but we’re just happy to see a Fox Body stay all-Ford. The guys at LaMotta Performance built this, and perhaps it’s just a Florida thing, but we love this kind of “outside the box” thinking. It actually started life as a non-SVO, so you can breathe a sigh of relief if that was a concern. What they did, however was build one badass Fox Body.

This video shows some of the behind-the-scenes things that took place in order to build the car, including a couple of dyno pulls and shake down runs. I really wish we were able to see what the dyno pulls said, but sadly, that isn’t so. For the shakedown runs, however, we can at least see what the car is putting down for times. And then comes the real good part. It’s the simplest question to ask in motorsport: “how fast can you go?” The answer is 7.98 @ 172!
