Ford is kinda having a moment. And by kinda, I mean, holy cuss word, Ford can do no wrong right now. The GT, the STs, the upcoming RS, and the Shelby GT350 Mustangs make for one hell of a performance lineup. What a great time to be alive!

CNET was able to get some seat time in the new GT350 at Laguna Seca Raceway in Salinas, California (not a bad place to test a car, eh?). As some of you probably know, it comes with a 5.2-liter V8 with 526 horsepower, which is 101.9 horsepower/liter, the highest Ford’s ever created for a naturally aspirated vehicle.

Almost everything on the car has been tweaked for heavy sport-focused driving. It’s lighter, it has that new-to-Mustang IRS, it has four-piston and six-piston Brembos, and a Torsen limited-slip rear axle. And did we mention this engine has a flat-plane crankshaft? All this in a package that comes in at an MSRP of $48,695 before any additional options like the $6,500 track package or the $7,500 tech package. The even more hardcore R model, which has such goodies as carbon fiber wheels, will add another $13,500. Check out the full review below.
