Domo Arigato: 1973 Japanese Police Mach 1 is Cool as Hell

OK, did you know that Japanese cops used Mach 1 Mustangs in the ’70s? Because I didn’t! And I have to wonder how many of these babies were nailing speeders over in the Land of the Rising Sun. This stunning example popped up on reddit/r/cars earlier today, and I haven’t been able to stop staring at it since. According to the 30 seconds of research I did while writing this post, this appears to be a car from the Aichi Prefecture, which happens to be where Toyota’s headquarters is located.  

I love the minimalist livery–particularly the point at the center of the hood–and if I ever get a Mach 1, I think I’d make it a tribute car. Of course, mounting a red siren on top might not go over so well here in LA…
