Thinking about forking out the cash for a new Shelby GT350? Well, you might want to wait a second.

Rumor has it that Ford is not only looking to up the ante on their performance offerings for the S550, but the company is also looking to do it in a way that’s bound to have all those Dodge Hellcat owners a little envious as well, according to Digital Trends.

Then again, I imagine that a new Shelby GT500 packing 800 horsepower would have more than Hellcat owners wishing they’d waited just a little longer before buying a new toy. Yup, you read that right. That’s 800 horses, a leap of 132 hp over the 2013 Shelby GT500.

At this point, most of the hard details on the new GT500 have been limited to a few spy shots making their way around the web. Although, some sources are reporting that the new Shelby will be powered by twin turbochargers.

Needless to say, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this bit of Ford development news.
