Growing up in the ’90s, I spent countless hours playing Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, and I always wondered what it would be like to see high-performance police cars, like the ones in the game, in real life. The guys at Verband der Automobil Tuner (VDAT) must have had the same idea as me, as they’ve built another special high-performance pursuit vehicle to promote safe vehicle modification.

Backed by Germany’s Federal Minister of Transport, the VDAT is a consortium of aftermarket manufacturers, much like SEMA here in the States. This year, they premiered this Wolf Wild 5.0 at the Essen Motor Show.

Since the stock car’s power output is already impressive, a simple exhaust and tune was employed to boost horsepower to 455.  The Mustang was then lowered on adjustable coilovers and fitted with one-off 20″ wheels, while the body received an aero kit and, naturally, police car livery and sirens.

The windows were covered in a shatter-proof film to aid officer safety, although this Mustang will see an easy service life as a promotional vehicle, reminding enthusiasts to follow all rules and regulations when tuning their cars. While Germany has much more stringent laws than we do here in the U.S., this cool Mustang must make that pill much easier to swallow for German car enthusiasts.
