Liberty Walk Mustang: Some Call this a Teaser, Others Call it Crap

Liberty Walk Ford Mustang

While there won’t be a shortage of customer orders for the new Liberty Walk body kit, there will be a shortage of common sense.

In the aftermarket community, Liberty Walk is synonymous for extra-large, extra-wide, and extra-wtf? The Japanese company known for building wild body kits for the likes of tuners, “stancers” and even some of the finest European supercars, will now dance with the iconic pony car. But how will the Mustang world receive it?

Liberty Walk Mustang: Some Call this a Teaser, Others Call it Crap

To help answer that question, we bring forward these images originally published by our friends at Motor Authority. First, let’s take a look at the rear — which is hands down the best part of this wide-body kit. It’s aggressive. The diffuser is certainly a nice addition, but the large deck-lid spoiler is a bit too much Lightning McQueen, isn’t it?

Now let’s look at the front-3/4 view. Here’s where things start to go awry. The Mustang’s already aggressive front lip is replaced with what looks like a Michigan snow plow, and the extra-wide fender flares once again take us to North Carolina’s Nascar country. Meanwhile, the hood is probably the least outrageous component here, with somewhat of an old-school Cobra look to it.

It’s not clear whether Liberty Walk will provide the extra-wide rubber and wheels – you know, for the ‘stance, brah. But that’s largely irrelevant because most owners of this caliber will simply swap them out for a set of their choice.

The rest of the kit is typical Liberty Walk: In-your-face and very GTR-like. While this certainly isn’t the worst-looking aftermarket-tuned Mustang out there, it’s certainly far from the hottest. Sure, once painted up and polished, this red-hot pony might be a little more pleasing to the eye. Until then, we’re keeping our distance.

So, after that southern-bbq-style grillin’ we just gave this thing, what do you think? Let us know on the forum.
