Ford just revealed this race-ready and road-legal ‘Ole-Yeller’ Mustang, inspired by the iconic P15D Mustang aircraft, and a legendary fighter pilot.

This yellow, black and green beast of a Mustang is nicknamed the Ole Yeller, and it’s actually being auctioned on July 28 at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 to benefit the Experimental Aircraft Association’s youth education programs, including the Young Eagles.

As if the “normal” Shelby GT350 wasn’t cool enough, the Ole Yeller gets a custom yellow exterior finish with “Ole Yeller” accents and badging, unique carbon fiber components, and mirrors projecting images of the aircraft. The interior features specially designed Recaro seats, sill plates, floor mats with unique logos, and aviation inspired gauges. Plus, the addition of the American flag as background to the photoshoot makes it feel like the American dream on wheels!

“This year’s one-of-a-kind Ford Mustang honors two aviation greats, the iconic and historic P-51D Mustang fighter plane, and highly decorated fighter pilot, test pilot, and air show performer, Bob Hoover, who is referred to by many as one of the greatest pilots ever to have lived,” said Edsel B. Ford II, via a Ford press release. “The Shelby GT350 Mustang, with its nimbleness, speed, and aerodynamics, provided us with the perfect platform to create this tribute to the P-51D aircraft.”

‘Ole Yeller is the 9th custom-made Mustang to benefit the EAA’s youth education programs, and joins the ranks of other equally-cool named Mustangs like the Dearborn Doll, the F-35 Lightning II Edition, Apollo Edition, and SR-71 Blackbird, among others.
