Roadkill Team Claims a ’69 Mach 1 as Next Victim

The crazy car buffs dig up the Mustang at a Colorado junkyard where it’s been sitting for 37 years.

Any time the guys at Roadkill get their hands on a vehicle, expect the unexpected.

Toss into the mix a car like a ’69 Mustang Mach 1 that’s been sitting idle in a junkyard for some 37 years, and the drama takes an even more interesting spin. Touted as the “dream” find, David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan came across the Mustang after scouring the grounds of Colorado Auto & Parts in Englewood, Colorado, owned by a family that had amassed an assortment of classics over the years.

That said, the Mustang proves that the challenges that come with getting some old finds up and running again are better left in the dream status. But then again, these two live for taking on the kind of mods projects that most people would never, ever tackle. And this one proves to be one of their most difficult yet.

First up? Getting rid of all the raccoon poop in the Mustang, which Freiburger and Finnegan question should earn the car the coveted title of “Mach None” or the “Disgustang.” The two car buffs eventually end up agreeing that “Disgustang” is probably a more appropriate fit. We tend to agree. On a more positive note, the Roadkill team seems to have a pretty decent selection of discarded parts at their disposal, which makes the process of transforming the Mach 1 from junk to racer a lot easier than it’d be for the average fan.

Still, it proves to be more than a notion to get the Mustang back on its feet for the Roadkill finale, as highlighted in the episode posted above.
