The V6 Mustang Needs To Die

Personally, I hate Ford’s V6 Mustang. The engine is pathetically slow, it’s heavy, loud, and drinks entirely too much gas. It’s an old design and thus makes the rest of the car feel really old too. I recently got a chance to get behind the wheel and explore my deep-seeded hatred of this Mustang iteration, and let me tell you, the V6 Mustang needs to die out. However, it just won’t.

We all know that the 5.0L V8 is the Mustang to have, and a close second is the new EcoBoost inline four-cylinder engine. The two motors make the new Mustang awesome in every way. However, Ford still wants to shove the outdated V6 engine into everything they can.

In an earlier article for Bold Ride, I stated that “the V6 option bridges the gap between the sports car enthusiast, and the muscle car enthusiast. A place that no one should ever be. Sure, it is a fine thing to look at, but the car just doesn’t feel as alive as the other two. It just isn’t a sports car with this engine option.” I stand by this assertion, and will defend it until my dying breath.

The V6 Mustang will live on due to low cost fixes and fleet sales all across the country, but it’s high time that Ford stopped making this pitiful engine. It’s not as advanced as the EcoBoost, and not as powerful as the V8, and somehow only gets marginally better mileage than the fire shooting V8.

It’s lost on me why Ford still makes this car. But what do you all think, do you like or love the V6 Mustang? Or do you just tolerate it?
