Stupid questions about my wheels
I have the 18" shiny mag-looking wheels. What is the term for them? Are they clear coated or polished aluminum or chrome plated? I want to know what wheel polish will be best, right now I m just waxing them, but if they are not clear-coated, I'd like to know so I could use some metal polish like Mother's on them when the start to look shabby.

You have polished, and I'm assuming they're the Bullitt style. The one's with the straight fins are called Fanblades. Ant metel polish will do from Brasso to Flitz. Just put a coat of wax on em when you're done.

There is no reason they should start to look shabby. I had a 68 Ford Falcon with chrome Center Lines. I waxed them once a month every month for the 6.5 years I owned it, never looked any different than the first day I put them on. Clean with soap and water to remove dirt, dry. Spray and clean with windex and paper towel ( for shine) treat with new finish, mothers or any other treatment. You will be fine bro.

RE: Stupid questions about my wheels
Umm, I believe those wheels are clear coated. I have them as well and just use a bit of car polish and wax on them.
If they were raw aluminum they would tarnish inside of a month. And if they were raw black residue would be on the polishing rag. I havent seen that yet.
So my guess is they are cleared. Dont use metal polish on them IMO.

If they are Ford original wheels that came with the Mustang they are called 18” polished Aluminum which is MISLEADING…
They are polished aluminum but they are clear coated and DO NOT require any actually polishing as you would with uncoated aluminum wheels. In other words there are polishes out there specifically for polishing aluminum and they are abrasive as that is how they polish bare aluminum.
I have the same wheels and LOVE them. If you polish them, and it’s a good idea to do so, just use any regular auto polish that is SAFE for clear coat like that on the exterior paint of the car. Some polishes will say they are safe for coated wheels like Blue Magic’s Liquid Metal Polish but I would NOT use it. I use it for the exhaust tips since they are stainless steel and NOT coated but I would not recommend using it on the clear coated wheels.
Since I use Zaino on the car I also put 3 coats of Zaino on the wheels. I am so **** that I actually took all the wheels off and washed the inside of the rim and put 3 coats of Zaino on the inside to help keep brake dust from building up and making it much easier to just simply rinse the brake dust off when washing the car. The other reason I took all the tires off was to hand paint the brake calipers as well…
