Better call Maco!
Does that 300 dollar paint job include wet-sanding the existing clearcoat, painting the stripes, re-clearcoating the panels, wet-sanding them again than buffing the panels out? I would make sure your friend does it right. It took a custom painter over 40 hours to do my striping, clearcoating and buffing. That works out to about 8 dollars an hour if I paid him 300 dollars.
If thsi guy does all that then you are getting an awsome deal. If not I would get another painter to do it correctly.
Ken at Maico also did my 2004 Mustang. Took him one day. They came out fine. The price was just for putting stripes on the car. He only uses clear on the stripe for two stage metallic colors. A solid color like black is one stage. This price obviously does not include redoing the whole clear coat on the car. Ken does know his stuff and the paint does stay. He has painted several cars for me. I could definitely feel an edge on the last one he did for me. But the edge was very minor. I may not even stripe my new GT. I like the clean simple look of the car right now. The CDC scoop is almost a for sure deal. I am a little concerned that the trim finish ring that covers the edges of the hole cut will crack and breakdown over time. Exposed plastic can turn to crap in fairly short order with lots of engine heat to boot.

Thanks. I'll probably just keep my stock airbox connected to the scoop. I'm hoping to not have to chance the stock mapping. I don't like screwing with my daily driver. I'm more going after looks. The car is fast enough stock and I don't need more tickets. I have 6 motorcycles of which two are pretty quick. My 2005 CBR600RR and my 2003 TL1000R have caused me enough tickets as is. I've already noticed the cops watching the Mustang. It's funny because they never look at me in our M3 and that car is fast. I'd say it would give the mustang a run.

No need to take it somewhere for the Shaker install. This is a DIY weekend project. The husband and I just got finished installing the Shaker and a C&L CAI this weekend.

Here is the post that we added pics to as we went along. There are more comments to come about the entire process but we are a little tired out from this job.

Yep, I think ya definetely need to do it yourself. There is nothing cooler than cutting a hole in your cars hood. [&:]

Ok, questions on this one..

What did you guys use to cut the hood of your car?

Is there a template or something that is provided with the kit ?

Does this system hook up to the stock airbox w/out a tune?

We used a jig saw, with a very fine blade. The kit does come with a template, and the shaker does not require a tune when used in conjuction with the factory air box.

I just finished installing my Shaker hood system myself and I am not a mechanic by trade.

I'm posting pix and the whole process in a separate thread.

Have a look if you can find it...lol.

I'm looking for an on-line site to purchase the shaker kit; has anyone seen it for less than $795?

Also, can the scoop be painted to match the car?

Thanks,
