I was thinking of driving without it to see how I like it, but is there some kind of glue where it connects with the trunk lid? Has anyone come up with a good alternative to filling the holes and painting? I've been trying to think of something to fill the holes that would look cool, but so far i've got squat!

Aside from the bolts, it's held on with double sided tape. After removing the 4 bolts, use Fishing line to "floss" the double tape out between the spoiler and the trunk lid. After you remove the spoiler, you will have double sided tape left on the hood. Use some goofoff or goobegone to remove the tape.
