Yes they can. When you get it all the way up use a small pin or allen to press in the small hole on the side opposite of the release tab. Push in while you pull up and it will come out.

If you look on the sides of the latches opposite the buttons, there is a small hole, push a pin in there and it should release them.

You can also try bending them back a bit as well.
How you do this depends on what you have, but I'd think a decent sized vice would work well. I jumped up and down on mine (carefully) for a little while and that was enough to push the angle back about and inch and a half. Now I can drive without my chin buried in my chest. :) |

My wife won't drive the mustang because she hates the headrest.
I consider this a good thing :) |
RE: Headrest on 2006 GT
IMO i would never drive without the headrest, but its not my neck breaking. BTW if you did get in a accident and hurt your neck, you would get any insurance cause you removed a saftey device. Kinda like if you where in an accident without your seatbelt.

I don't know about you guys but my neck is never resting on the headrest when I drive... I must be always on the edge of my seat!!

Interesting. I posted a similar complaint about 6 mos ago and everyone thought the angle was great! I may try bending the posts. Thanks for the tip, spuddogg
