All the articles I've seen follow the line of: Mercury should bring the cougar back based on the S197 chasis. There are no current plans I could find as yet revealed to build it.

Man, if they brought back a retro version of the Cougar like they did with the Mustang, I hate to say it but I think my mustang would be for sale. My first car was a '68 XR-7. I've always loved those cars

Same here, if they did as nice a job on the Cougar as they did on the S197.... my first car was a 67 Cougar with 289 V8..... white with red leather interior

Would have to have the hide-away headlights and big sequential turn signals at a minimum. 67/68 Cougar was a freakin' classic and far sexier than the Mustang at that time.

I've still got a few old parts from mine out in the shed. Had 'em for 30 years. I've had a bunch of Mustangs but the one that got me started on pony cars was the Cougar. Motor trend car of the year in '67. The same year that everybody and his brother came out with pony cars. Dodge, Chevy, Pontiac you name it. Ok, so we could have a cougar forum. Hang on to your Xcal!
