STOCK GT HOOD & GT500 CONVERSION
I have an 06 GT convertible that I am thinking of converting. I do not like the GT500 hood, so I plan on keeping the stock hood. (PERTANOand555*, I love the look of your conversions!) Although I want to keep my stock hood, I am concerned about an article that I read that indicated the reason the vents are in the GT500 hood is twofold: 1. Heat Extraction; 2. Allow build-up of air under hood to excape. Apparantly, the larger grill of the GT500 fascia allows more air build-up under the hood, and at high speeds, increases the chance of hood lift-off. I am really concerned about this because I have experienced my hood becoming unhatched twice while driving at speeds at 90-95mph.

RE: STOCK GT HOOD & GT500 CONVERSION
I've had the car up to 145mph on one occasion and 125mph a few other times with no problems at all. Not even hood shake like others experience. At the strip it was trapping at 111mph with no concerns either. So I guess the point is you don't havea problem.

Thanks, that is a relief. I really like the look of the stock hood with the GT500 fascia! Was wondering if you had to modify/trim the GT500 grill to fit under the lower profile of the stock GT hood?

So it seems your stock hood is not a problem at all except for heat extraction. I certainly, though, would be sure to install the splitter which was specifically developed to work in conjunction with the upper and lower grille design.
