Default Tinted Taillights

So I got bored today and decided I wanted to tint my taillights. It is something I have wanted to do in the first place, but I finally got it done today. I just used some window tint that I had, cut out the seperate pieces for each section of the taillight, and applied them. I have a few bubbles in there, but hopefully once they get warmer, I can work them out. Took me prob a lil over an hour to do. That is with redoing the one side because of excessive bubbles. Here are a few pics, let me know what you think. It is 20% tint by the way.

Thanks for the comment. I see your headlights and foglights are tinted. How did you do those? And are your tails tinted? Did you buy overlays? And how much did those cost you? Also, how easy did they go on? I still have bubbles on mine and will have to play with them.

I bought the overlays from stang mods for the headlights, foglights, and turn signals back in september for about 100 for alland they still look as great as they did when i put them on. The tint is thicker than regular tint so the heat from the lights dont damage it so thats why it is a little more expensive but its precut and looks great. The taillights and 3d brake lightI bought in january when i put my ducktail on. They applied the same way you did yours just like regular tint. They went on really easy took about 15 mins.

Thats when i got it done and heres a recent picture, they look the same as when i did them. (They went through snow rain heat if your wondering)

Heres a picture of my frontfacisawithout the chin spoilerso you will know what yours will look like if you want to go that route.

You got a sweet ride there s2k.Thanks for the info, I hope my tint lasts a lil while. Is your tint also 20%? Or is it 50% all around? I would actually like to eventually get the chin spoiler. And also, I think we might be striping it sometime soon. I think we are going for white stripes, with a different design twist (check my "stripe question" post), not sure how tinted headlights would look with white stripes. I think the back should still look ok tho.

Thanks alot man, yeah white stripes with torch red stangs look AMAZING! My tint is 50% on the lights and windows except for my front windows that i had to take off thanks to the the laws in the great state of NJ[:@]. Have you thought about clearing out the front turn signals since those cleared out with white stripes would have a great look to them just something to consider you know.

I actually have thought about it, but then I think about the taillights being tinted. Do you think it'd still look ok with clear turnsignals up front and tinted tails with white stripes? Or is it just me that isn't too keen on that. Sorry to hear that you had to remove your tint. I sort of want to get our windows tinted. I don't think they are as strict up here in PA. My buddy's truck has 2% tint on the front 2 windows and hasn't gotten pulled over for them yet. I have many plans for the stang, the only setback for me is the money due to me being a college student. Oh well...that's what the summer is for. Did you check out my idea for our stripes? Any comments?

I was wondering what kind of tint you guys used. A friend of mine did my tint, he does tinting for a Toyota dealership. He said he would have to do some research, but that standard tint wouldn't stay on.

I just used the standard window tint that you can buy at Walmart or Pep Boys. I had a roll of window tint that I used on my Grand Am, so I cut out the rough shape/size of each section of the taillight, lined it up, peeled the backing, and applied. It turned out alright. I still have some bubbles on them, I'm thinking with heat from the sun and from the lights being on, it will help get rid of them. So far they have stayed on, but then again is hasnt been out too many times since I've put it on. We will see how long and how well it lasts.
