Default How to remove silver dash piece?

How does the silver IUP dash piece above the radio come off. Does it just pull of or what? Reason I ask is I want to run my radar detector cord under it and hardwire it to the back of my radio. Thanks

There is four bolts holding that piece on.To gain access to the right side bolts you need
to remove the airbag dash piece first.Which you probably need to disarm also.
(Mlcrycc gave me a link once about this)But then lower your glove box to gain access
to the two bolts attaching the airbag to the brackets inside the dash.To get the twoleft side
bolts remove your Instrument cluster by lowering the steering wheel and pull towards you.Its held
in by plastic snaps.

Do you guys think I could just jam a flat head screwdriver in between the middle of it, to pry it up enough to stick my radar detector power wire thru? Thanks

Yeah theres a small chance that might work.Just be careful and try to use something plastic
so theres less of a chance of nicking your dash.Maybe use a close hanger feed up then use
it to pull the wire through.

Well I looked at it today, and decided not to try and pry it open but to remove it for the access. On the driver side plastic, you said all I have to do is put the steering wheel down and pull on it, to remove it. Is this right?

Yes, On the dash piece behind the steering wheel. There is no bolts just plastic tabs
that snap into the dash.I always grab through the far left vent and the chrome ring around
the tach and pull towards me then up.
