Yes, the vents are entirely functional. There are "rain guards" (actually pieces of perforated metal mesh) that clamp down behind the vents. They remove in minutes and allow you to peer down at the motor, etc. through the hood. I know, I know, it sounds silly, but it really does look trick. AndI seem to have picked up a few ponies from the new fresh underhood air.

I purchased the hood for the heat extraction and underhood clearance issues I'd heard about with the Saleen supercharger. I knew I would get a few "rice" comments but oh well. I'm really happy with it.

And if you don't like ricey things, your probably really going to hate the flush-mount hood pins I'm looking at:

I'm having a hard time understanding how this hood has more clearance than stock. It looks like a stock hood with indents CLOSER to the engine where all the heat extractor madness is.

GT500 hood = greater clearnace
Saleen hood = greater clearance
Cowl hood = greater clearance
Ram air hood = greater clearance

This hood.....I'm not seeing it.

The Saleen SC does fit under the stock hood, but not by much. The extra clearance and fresh air would be very nice.

The saleen supercharger when used with a higher flow cai, such as my C&L racer, tends to sit a bit higher right where the inlet connects to the TB and a little forward of that. the slight bubble where the first vent is on the Seibon hood gives about another 1'-1 1/2' of clearance in that area. Not much, but everything helps...

I like it! It looks a lot like the Saleen, except for the center louvers. So it came with that finish? I don't think it would go very well with my Redfire, but on black it looks sharp.

I was actually really debating whether to get the hood or not. I couldn't find a pic anywhere with it installed except for this one on the Seibon site with it installed on a red car at SEMA. It looked good enough on that car that I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on it. Or maybe it was the babes in the picture that made me want it . I'm a pushover for a hot brunette.
