Default Need Your Help with a HIGH PERFORMANCE Spoiler

Hi there....
I have a friend that is....how shall I say it...... "appear modification challenged"......

He is addicted to performance only mods!

He tells me if I can find a rear spoiler "that adds some type of performance to the car", he'll do it.

Alright now.....I am determined to find one!! (got to prove looks are important too!!!)

Help me out here.............................. shella ~

Got a wind tunnel? Cause I think that's the only way to prove it..

IMO most rear spoilers are functional to a degree, but you have to be really hauling butt to see the benefits of the downforce.

But point out to him that in Indy, Nascar, etc.. at those speeds the rear spoilers are functional, and even a small adjustment on them can drastically alter the cars handling at those speeds.

my buddy built a tonneu (sp) cover fo rhis ranger pickup, he decided to put a little lip on the back... (i was against it) he built the lip at an extremely steep angle... so much that he actually felt the truck slow down a little... it was nothing but a big parachute on the back of his tailgate... he took it off, made it smaller and adjusted the angle, got his power back... he said going uphill fast was not gonna happen with the first model... so they DO work, but only at highway speeds...

So.....it is fair to say, one might be able to improve the overall performance of his or her stang by adding a rear spoiler??

Yea! Got him!

That's a fair statement - specifically, you're increasing downforce on the rear, thus altering handling characteristics, towards the goal of reducing rear oversteer.

Technically, with a spoiler you're just decreasing the ability of the shape of the car to produce lift.

It's to create downforce on the rear to plant the rear tires to the ground...Traction/stability !!
Watch the guys in NHRA top fuel when the wing breaks at 300mph...Car goes outta control and usually flies off the track,
Basically the faster the car is the more benifical thewing is...Or in the case of top fuel...Needed!!!!
