Default Will Hood struts work with a Fiberglass hood?

I am curious since I am getting the Cervinis kit for my 07 GT. Will the CDC hood struts work on the Fiberglass hood also or will they create more stress on the hinge area or be too much pressure for the hood. ( meaning when I pop the hood latch will the hood want to fly up with the pressure?)

Fiberglass hoods are generally heavier than the stock ones so it wont want to fly up but I have heard a few poeple say that the hood bows a bit from the pressure of the hood strut.

i have the cdc cherry hood and the hood struts and he is correct it does bow when you are driving down the road. people always drive by and wave me down thinking my hood is unlatched. the cdc is fiberglass by the way.

One of our customers has redline struts on his Cervini hood and it's not bowed. Our Steeda hood did bow though.

My cervini's #1171 hood and MRT hood struts are AWESOME. They work great even took 6 pulls on the dyno with the hood up never once moving. My hood doesn't movewhile I drive. When I pop the hood it stops at the latch then waits for me to pop it up. I don't have any issues what-so-ever

Hmmm, the CDC hood strut bracket mounts to the OEM hood bracket (not directly to the hood)...so how is it that you could get bowing from them? I'm confused. I can see how some of the other hood strut designs would place stress on the hood itself, since they bolt (or rivit) directly to the hood. But the CDC design should place all stresses on the kit's brackets and the steel OEM brackets (where you want it).

Maybe I'm missing something? Someone, please do tell. (I picked the CDC system precisely because it seemed to me to place the least undue stress on the hood.)

Best,
-j

My Steeda hood bows along the fenders in the middle with the MRT struts. That is the only issue. So I just remove and pop them on when its car show time.

I have a fiberglass Cervinis hood and I have no idea what everyone is talking about with the hood bowing. I have never had it fly open when I pull the release latch in the car. It stays closed and does not bow in any way when shut or driving. I have the redline hood struts and have never had a problem with anything being discussed here. Could it be that the measurements are wrong on the struts and their placement causing the bowing of the hood when open? I leave mine open all the time for show and never once did I consider not getting struts on a fiberglass hood. The only thing I would say is to measure twice and drill only once.......REDLINE TUNING to me is the best looking strut as well.http://www.redlinetuning.com/products_quicklift.htmlI have the quick lift elite and have nothing bad to say about them as well as the company (located near me in Michigan). Wish you lived closer to me TASSY5 as I love to help you install and paint all those parts!
