SlideWRX: How did you get the GT500 Strut Tower brace to fit your 2007 GT with the stock hood? Did it clear the OEM intake plenum cover?
Was the part # for the STB: 7R3Z-16A200-B?

Are there any indentations in the hoodliner?
Some members on The Mustang Source are having problems using the GT500 STB on their 05 and 06 GTs. They even tried using washers with the bar reversed. Perhaps the 06.5-up GTs have revised hoods/liners?

yes the hood liner is indented where it makes contact with the bar, but there is no problem withhood contact, build date on my car is 1/06

Ford felt strongly enough about a strut tower brace to add it to the GT-500. Personally, I can't tell much of a performance change on my GT, though.
Then again, my Mustang GT doesn't really stack up in the handling department compared to other sports cars I've driven and currently own. Good, but not great.
The Mustang probably needs several thousand dollars in tires and suspension work for that. In that context, I don't see anything wrong with adding a strut tower brace, maybe not as a first part. Still, as part of a package or an overall plan, then that might make some sense.
I can see two good reasons to add one, none are for performance.
- The chance that it might reduce creaks, rattles, etc., later on down the road.
- The Ford Racing brace I have looks great under the hood.
If it does the former, then it's money well spent. Although, I won't know for another 10 or 15 years if it helped, but I'll be sure to post a review in 2022 to let everyone know.

My 1981 T-bird has not had any suspension or chassis upgrades/braces added. It's now 27 years old and the chassis looks fine. It doesn't creek or do anything out of the ordinary.

The strut tower bar is primarily to handle shake over bumps; the GT500 got stiffer, so for ride quality they put the strut tower bar on.
