Buy a functional hood; it's not that much more expensive and it actually does something (like ram air, heat extractor).
I agree on the functional hood scoops. What are some companies that offer them at a decent price?

I installed this hood scoop almost a year ago and the paint still looks perfect. I bought it from the same place as listed below.

Here is a current listing.

+1 for getting a functional scoop if that's where you're headed with the car anyway. Unfortunately for me (or maybe fortunately since I had nothing beforehand) someone backing into the front edge of my hood sped up the process quite a bit. I got lucky and the Texas Hot Rod Store here in SA had another customer upgrading his black '06 GT so I got his hood and wheels/tires for a song and a dance and added the scoop. Eventually I want a shaker or a Cervinis body kit so this setup will go, but it works for now.

It's the colors, if it was all black it would look like it fits, or maybe just add some more black somewhere else on the car? I love that hood though. I saw an all black GT with that hood andone nice body kit, almost crashed my car...

JimC... you shoulda painted it white so that it could blend in with your superstripe.

Anyway, I got the GT scoop back in January. I like it better than the Roush, personally. The grill insert matches the honeycomb grill on our cars. The Roush insertis just flat black.
how much did it cost for the GT scoop
victoria, where did you buy your gt scoop? and did it come painted or did you have to pay for that as well?

It was about $240 or so... I got it from the parts department at a local Ford dealer.

Be brave. You'll enjoy the payoff. Nothing in HP gains but long on looks and the wow factor. I watched the muscle cars die out in the 70's largely due tothe oil embargo but have largely enjoyed the revival of them. The technology of the new cars have made them cleaner, more efficient and much faster. Enjoy em' while you still can. The sky is the limit. Use your imagination. Have fun!

One quick question.

Can any Ford Dealership replace the V6 hood with the GT hood? Or do you have to go to a shop?

And I'm just curious if anyone has any idea on how much it would run to get the functional hood scoop(painted already) and installation?
