Default Shaker or Steeda Street Cowl?

What do you think? I'm torn between the two.

For those of you with aftermarket hoods, about how much did you pay to have your hood painted and installed?
Can you get away without hood pins on the steeda?

I found a shaker for about 700, and would be installing myself. So what kind of price difference amI lookin' at?That, along with your opinions will probably make my decision.

thanks.

Default RE: Shaker or Steeda Street Cowl?

I personally like both the cowl and the shaker. I went with the cowl largely for aero and heat extraction.
I paid about $100 to have the hood painted; the install is very easy so consider saving the $ and do it yourself - I did the hood struts at the same time.
I got my full cowl hood from Frank's Gargage at Steeda for a song (I think it was around $200)...they have another there...call ifyou are interested.I got my front fascia and rear wing from there as well. The front fascia had some minordamage - this was all spelled out clearlyon the web site...plus they told me when I called to order it so Iknewexactly what I was gettingand was actually pleasantly surprised as I did not even have to patch the damage it was so minor - I've since done way more damage at the track .

Reg price is around $600 for the full cowl.

You really should use pins for any fiberglass or carbon fiber hood. I am pretty sure that the hood latch would catch (as it did with the stock hood the few times it popped), but the CF and fiber hoods mightcrack and tear from the shearing effect when it popped up (considering this would probably happen at 70mph+).

Here's a link to a similar thread where I posted some pix.

I've got some in-car video that shows the cowl really good (too much cowl actually) so you can see there is not any significant hood shake.
