20's a bad idea?

RE: 20's a bad idea?
If this is your everyday driver, stay away from 20's. If you drive it for fun and to look good, you'll love waxing the 20's.
20's are darn rough, but they sure turn heads. I've got an 05 triple black convertible, shaker sound in the truck, light bar, eibach suspension. For summer curve straightening it's grrrrrrrrrreat. For enjoyablefreeway cruising, it sucks. I'm not afreeway cruiser.

Why stay away from 20s as a DD?
Its a question of asthetics versus reliablity, comfort, and performance. The largest wheels Ford offers are 18s because anything else and your making compromises for asthetics that the average person wouldn't be willing to make.

Umm, I have 20's on a DD and love it. I know about the extra weight but don't really care, I don't street-race. Not sure what the issue is on handling and comfort - this is a Mustang, after all, and I would rather feel the road and lowered with 20's handles better than anything else IMO.
Perhaps it is a matter of the road condition, but here in LA we have more than our share of potholes and I've never had a problem.
20's FTW!

RE: 20's a bad idea?
It pretty much breaks down like this: If you put 20"s on your car your gas mileage will decrease slightly, your ride will become noticeably harsher andyour handling will take a hit (good dampers and springs can definitely help this), andyour car will feel more sluggish and not as fast. However, your car will also look 200x better, you will get tons more looks and compliments on it, and the wheel wells will be filled like they should have been in the first place.
If you check my sig you'll see the decision I made. For all the reasons I first listed, sometimes I regret it. But when I look out the window and see it sitting in the driveway, or when I have people stop me to tell me my car looks great,it makes it all worthwhile. So you've gotta ask yourself, are you building a corner carving performance machine or a head-turner? That's the choice you'll have to make.
