It's just attached with that rubbery double sided tape and a couple pins to locate it. I waited till the sun had warmed it up and used fishing line to cut it off, then used acetone to remove the rubber tape that stayed on the car instead of coming off with the "cap"

I used a heat gun to warm up the area from behind
and then sawed thru the foam tape with BRAIDED
Fishing Line. Goo Gone was then used to remove
any foam tape residue. You can literally roll it off
with your thumb.

What blackout panel did you buy?
There are tricks to installing them also.

Thanks for the replies, To be honest I'm not sure I was at CJPonyParts.com and it looks like the CDC but they had no info for it. I hope I did not make a mistake with this buy but it looks like a nice one. I also have a set of Black taillight trim ordered too Vtec.

CDC has the ribbed (for her pleasure) panel. It looks like mine.
You really need more VHB emblem tape for the CDC panel to
stay on. It sort of springs back when made to follow the curvature
of the trunk lid.

Yes I too order a ribbed (for her pleasure LOL) panel. I can only hope it is a CDC or a good quality knockoff of it. So I will get some more 3M auto tape too. Any other helpful instructions ? I am very thankful for the help all.

The panel is not the same radius as the trunk curvature.
It need to be clamped in place on the ends for a couple
of hours to let the VHB tape set. I also used a recommended
adhesion promoter to put the additional VHB tape on the back
of the panel. My first install with just the one thin strip of VHB
tape as it was shipped to me. After a couple of months the sides
came loose and left a gap inbetween the panel and trunk lid.
I then had to remove the panel (nearly impossable without damaging
the panel of trunk lid) and use more VHB tape and clamp it to get
it to stay. The key hole is the key to the install. Align it with
the trunk key hole and all will be well.

CJPonyParts.com is where I ordered it and after returning to the site and looking better at the link it is a CDC product. Thank God

Thanks for the fine help and the link to the bond prep. I would of never known this stuff and would of been upset as I am sure you were having the bond come loose. How did you clamp it down till the tape set up? I used a hair dryer to get the tape to activate on my window scoops.

As far as removing the tailights to replace the bulbs, how do you remove it?
