Default Rear GT Emblem

Recently, my rear GT emblem got a huge scratch through the middle (I have no idea how). I bought a new emblem, but I pride myself on not messing with my car and cringed when I read about drilling. Has anyone seen a decal for the rear emblem with the GT logo so I can cover the scratch?

Thanks

Drilling? what are you talking about? Just heat up the old emblem with a hair dryer and use a piece of fishing line to work down around each side. then pull it off. Now you can replace the emblem. It sticks on with two plastic pin guides and double-sided tape.
What were planning on drilling? You got this idea from where?

I took mine off this weekend. Getting the emblem off was not difficult. Getting all the old
3m tape residue was a PITA. I had heat, WD40, goo gone and a plastic scraper. I wasn't too
worried about scratching the clearcoat underneath, because you'd never see it. I didn't use anything
harsher because I was worried about the stripes.

The SHR rear emblem suggests drilling to re-attach, maybe that's why he's talking about.

o, ok. So I don't have to drill anything. What will happen if I don't take off the old take residue?

Just ditch the ugly looking emblem (fake gas cap) and get a black out panel, all good !!!

I got the CDC panel with the GT logo, removing the stock emblem was a PITA

It was worth it !!!

If you take off the emblem, you're going to have to clean the residue off in order to reattach a
new one.

A new one isn't going to sit/stick properly without doing so.

So, once I clear out all the old residue. Do I need to prep the surface at all for the new emblem. I know when I used 3m tape for my louvers, I needed to prep it right.

Didn't you hear me, ditch the emblem !!! lol
Seriously use a tar/bug remover to get rid of all the tiny residue
then use some water to really clean the service of any chemicals.
Thats what I did for the blackout panel, then I used clamps overnight on the edges to really seal up the 3M tape and its solid, looks stock.
