Default Replacing rear spoiler

Is removing the stock rear spoiler on the GT as simple as removing 4 nuts? Seems that nothing is ever simple so before I get started, I wanted to check for "complications." Is there any adhesive or tape or grommets to deal with? Thank you very much.

Yes there is adhesive tape. Pretty much covers everywhere the spoiler touches.

Well.......... it is that easy to remove the spoiler itself but removing the tape that remains on the trunk may be another story. Just takes some elbow grease but it does come off (but not easily).

I agree with ddiehl the spoiler comes of easily but the tape not so easily...i've heard goo-gone works well, I just used an old rag and rubbed it back and forth over the tape till it got hot and eventually it came off...use polish to remove the thin final layer

I used some fishing line to saw between the deck and spoiler. Make sure you use some form of lube for this, soapy water works well. It helps to have someone there to help pry back the spoiler a bit to get the fishing line under. After it's off, like someone else said, get some Goo-Gone, make sure it's the greasy, oily spray kind not the easily confusable Goof-Off that is in a pressurized can and can stripe paint. For the 5 bucks Goo-Gone is worth getting for the hour plus it would take to get the tape off otherwise.
One other suggestion, if you are installing a GT500 spoiler just fold over the corners of the tape backing at an angle exposing just enough to be able to pull once you set it in place.

a heat gun or hair dryer also helps. Move it arond the each of the bases of the spouiler (workin on one at a time) until the trunk starts getting hot. This will loosen the glue and make it easier to remove the spoiler. Also, this leaves less of a residue mess.

It took me about 1 hour to remove mine with goo gone and a lot of elbow grease.

Use caution when removing the spoiler.I had the tape loosened with heat and even use the fishing line. When I pull the spoiler up on the left side it tightened up again causing a small dimple on the decklid right in front of the spoiler pedestal.I'm pretty sure this was caused from stressing out metal as I pulled the decklid forward and upward.
For removing the tape goo 3-M make an adhesive removal you can purchase in a pint from a body supply shop.
