Vinyl or Paint
#21
I was looking into stripes a few months ago and talked to a guy who had been doing vinyl stripes for years. He seemed pretty knowledgable, and here's what he told me:
If your car is out in the sun a lot (and mine is 24/7) then you do not want vinyl. Vinyl will fade and crack over time. He told me that being outside the amount of time that my car is, vinyl stripes will last 2-3 years before I become unhappy with them. He said that if it is garage kept/covered for most of the time, they'll last about 8 years.
He advised me to go painted, and I tended to believe him, as he could not paint them, so he would be losing my business, but he was just being honest. So, keep your car's environment in mind.

I've got vinyl now, but I definitely want to get them painted on soon! I do agree that if you're not sure about size or color, vinyl at first might be the way to go...but if you're set on a color and size (and have the cash) then you can't go wrong with paint!
