Default Stripe removal?

On my 05 Mustang the Vinyl racing stripes have cracked and i already had the ones on the hood removed when i got my aftermarket hood. Is the removal from the roof and trunk something i can do myself or should i take it somewhere? The shop i talked to friday said it would be almost 100 bucks to have it done by them. Any advice on doing the removal myself and if i should do it at all would be much appreciated.

i removed mine, so i don't see any reason why you can't remove yours. i say remove it your self and put the $100 towards new mods. the residue is a PITA to get rid of though, just take your time so the paint doesn't get harmed.

i peeled off mine on a hot day so the sun definitely made it easy to peel off.

If cooler than 80-100 degrees ambient temp I would use a hair dryer or heat gun and start with a small corner (after applying a little heat) and pull slowly straight back on the stripe (let the heat do the work) and the adhesive should come off with it. Dont pull up but straight back so the vinyl you have started removing is almost touching the vinyl on the car. Help from an extra set of hands will help greatly. Any residue left use some rubbing alcohol or adhesive remover and follow with a good claying of the whole car and wax afterward........done!

I just did it using a hair dyer as mygt500 suggested it was easy about 25 minutes to peel them off and another half hour to clean up the residue. No way was it worth the 100 bucks that the auto shop wanted for doing it. Thanks for the advice guys!!
