Redneck caliper paint

Redneck caliper paint
Well, let me start off by saying that I am one that's why I'm allowed to say "redneck"! Anyway, I was at the store the other day and after all this talk about painting brake calipers I ran across Rustoleum BBQ paint. This stuff can withstand temps of 1200*F ( http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=112 ) so I figured... what the heck. This stuff is supposed to be tough and durable so I got to thinking. Shortly thereafter I picked up a can and what do you know, I have painted calipers. It was really easy. The end result is not as smooth as those previously posted brushed on types which would bug me if I was going with a lighter color but since I was going black anyway it doesn't really bother me. It is a spray paint so you'll have to do a little masking but that only takes a minute. I don't know how it will hold up but it was worth a shot for $4! What do ya'll think?
By the way, don't talk crap about the pics my 5 year old took them and she is a cage fighter.

Yeah but it's also a spray which would have given me the same results. Also, not that my brakes should get that hot but isn't the caliper paint rated to 900*F as apposed to 1200*? End result's all the same I suppose.

The caliper kit comes with paint in a can and a brush for easy application / future rock chip touch ups
but still looks good nonetheless

Very true. Although the masking only took a few minutes a brush would be easier for touch-ups.
