9 bar billet front grill pictures please.

Do they scratch? All that extra air but is it just hot air?

Stang-aholic 04-10-2009 07:11 PM

i haven't noticed any difference with the air flow, but it does open up the edges of the grille, which probably helps a lot. No scratches so far.

there is a lot more airflow than the stock grille...if you look closely at the stock grille, youll see that it has the honeycomb design...within that honeycomb design, you will see that about half of the honeycombs are actual holes to allow air into the engine bay while the remaining honeycombs are not holes at all, just mere plastic mold with a plastic backing...with that in mind, you can compare it to the 9-bar grille that is COMPLETELY open and has nothing to impede air flow into the engine bay...you have pretty much a 200% increase in airflow into the engine bay to be sucked into the air intake by the engine...

as for whether it being hot air or not, the "hot" air that goes into your intake is primarily going to be the air that is already in your engine bay that is heated up by the radiant heat built up from the engine....now, not all the air that goes into your intake is hot, most of the air going into your intake while driving will be the cool air that comes through the front grille and into your engine bay....

i would say the 9-bar will help against heat buildup under the hood to a degree because it will allow greater cool air flow into the engine bay, creating more air pressure and forcing a lot of the hot air in the bay out...this will allow more cool air to flow into your intake over the stock grille....

i hope this helps you!

chip721 04-12-2009 05:34 PM

Yes got mine at Mr BK. It's been awhile and don't have my invoice handy. But I sure didn't pay Roush price it.

Great post and very insightful. I was just looking at these grills today. A nice, cost effective upgrade that seems to have some nice functionality to it as well.

Thanks :)

hey guys
well im a new member to this forum and needed a little help so here it goes.
i have a 08 GT and have just purchased and installed a new CDC billet grill without the fog light cut outs or anyhthing, however i wanted to still have my fog lights. i have seen pictures of people putting them behind the grill and i think they look great. so i looked into how to do that, and i came across a thread that said that all they did was wedge it in there. so if anyone has any help on a more detailed description on how to put it in it would be great. And are the fog lights that they put behind the grill, are they the stock GT fogs"?

0NF1R 04-13-2009 05:56 AM

thx Biceps, we help out each other here as much as possible...good luck!@

Daniel60 04-13-2009 03:49 PM

I want to know the quality of Mr. Body Kit. Someone here once say they weren't
good quality. Thanks!

Ken whats the differnce between your and the SSinerts one ? they look exactly the same .... Sorry to kinda throw you under the bus Ive just seen 5 differnt prices HUGE price gaps between each one ... Thanks !

SGT McCauley

jfkdm 04-13-2009 05:03 PM

hey guys sorry to try and get you off topic, but anyone with some help trying to put fogs behind these billet grills?

jahudso2 04-13-2009 05:09 PM

I asked that a couple months ago and it turns out there is no real kit for mounting the fogs behind the grill. Only a few people on the forum have done it and they all just made up their own way to mount them.

Not really sure what brand the SS inserts grill is. Same picture but different part number.

Ours is the Roush grill - part#403184

Thanks

whyask 04-13-2009 10:29 PM

OK...thanks just trying to get a handel on whats what...As the consumer if I can get it for less then obviuosly im leaning toward the cheaper .. BUT if its CRAPPY quality then ILL ALWAYS pay the higher of the two ...not sure if anyone understand the issue ...sorry for ranting !

jahudso2 04-14-2009 04:24 AM

It might be that the cheaper ones are overlays that just clip on to the stock honeycomb grill and the more expensive ones are actual replacements, but that is all I can think of.

jfkdm 04-14-2009 12:53 PM

Thanks for the help about the stealth mounting

JasperGT 04-14-2009 01:41 PM

The Roush grille is a high quality piece (I had one once). The only problem is the increased airflow. It would scare me half to death driving on the interstate into a head wind. The hood would bounce up and down. If you were gonna get one of the billet grilles that is a full replacement (like the Roush), I would suggest functional hood pins. The look is great, but some rattle can is necessary.

staggolee 04-14-2009 05:16 PM

That's really great advice, much appreciated

zporta 04-14-2009 05:32 PM

that looks great... and my buddy had a bad experience w/ SS and said the had the worst customer service he has ever dealt w/

funny how some of these people never come back. I'm going to call Body Kit and see what the difference is. I probably just pay for the roush and know I'm getting the best.

The price difference is over a hundred dollars. Which I knew if this is pron to scratching.

JasperGT 04-15-2009 05:54 PM

I didn't have any problems with mine scratching when I had it on. It was on for at least 4 months.

+1 75+ on Interstate and you'll think your hood latch has come loose.

What kind of grill do you have? Also has anyone had quality issues with Mr. Body Kit?

Hootna 04-19-2009 01:00 PM

I have that one and have had no issues with it. Fits perfect and is a lot cheaper than the Roush.

Daniel60 04-19-2009 02:14 PM

Case closed thank you.
