I would leave it alone. I doubt they will come out to match the center of the wheel and likely less durable.

well the silver on my rims is fading off since i got some brake fluid on them, this was another reason why i want to paint them.

I had a friend who sanded the finish off his rims with a light grit and then painted them silver, they actually looked ok, but if your thinking murdered out, do it
