Opinions please! GT500 takeoffs on my car. *Photochop provided*
And I use the term "chop" verrry loosely.
What do you guys think? I get s**t regularly for having the V6 option wheels on my GT even though I really dig the chrome look. GT500 takeoffs with Eagle F1 Supercar tires and TPMS included are going for $960 on ebay + shipping... The issue is not necessarily that I'm caving into peer pressure. I like my stock wheels. I also really like the GT500 wheels... The issue is more that I need wider (read: better) tires for hooking once I get my 4.10's and in order to make my suspension mods worth the trouble. These stock 18x7.5 (probably not, but they're narrow as hell) just won't do... I appreciate that some of you may tell me "go with what you like" or "don't let people tell you what to do" but what I'm really looking for is just some reassurance that the dull-chromed machine look of the GT500's goes well versus what I have now. Please be advised, I absolutely am not considering any black rims. I do not care for the look personally. Thanks.
Like I said, I like chrome, but no other wheel really jumps out at me. The price on these takeoffs is right, plus I'm trading 235/50/18's all around for 255/45/18 up front and 285/40/18 in the rear. I'm lowering the rear with Roush rear springs and putting on a set of BMR billet LCAs and relo brackets. I'm looking to get 4.10's put on before June, so having the extra tire to help me hook would be AWESOME.
Does this work?
********BEFORE*******
********AFTER********
Note: I could not get the size of the wheel exactly right in the second picture, so the wheel may appear smaller on my tire. Imagine the wheel just *slightly* larger. The overall effect is achieved in this picture, though.

I like your current wheels. I wouldn't spent any additional money just because you get slack from others...if you're going to do it, do it for the right reasons...which is because it's something you really want. If you like your current wheels/tires, I say keep'em!

Thanks guys!
I'm stuck right now because the tires I have now are (or soon will be) woefully inadequate. Those stock wheels might as well be 18x7.5's. I'm running 235/50/18's all around, and I think I'm going to need extra rubber once I get my LCA's and gears. It sucks losing the look, but I don't know what else to do. Any options? I scoped out a staggered arrangement of S-style 5-bar chrome wheels from Cruizin Concepts, but it's more than $500 more than the takeoff GT500's...and it's not a true substitute as the bars are a bit thinner. It's cool don't get me wrong, but I don't know if it gives me that feeling you know? Do I have any real viable options at this point besides these GT500 takeoffs? I'm a bit weird in that I tend to like the OEM stylings better for wheels (stockers and OE GT500's) than I do for 99.99999% of the aftermarket out there. Maybe it's just my car, I don't know...

The wheels are 18x8.5 I believe, that's what all the other 18s are. While I think you are over exaggerating your "need" for some wider wheels just b/c you are getting 4.10s, wider rubber would be helpful which you can easily get on your current wheels.
