Covering the holes left over by removing the GT Emblem

Yes, I know I don't have a GT stang...

A couple of weeks ago, my car was hit in the Walmart Parking lot. ARR!

I got an estimate on repairs, and then thought to myself, what if I could find a passenger side front fender that was already painted black, and just swap them out? So I did a search and actually found one... but it is for a GT. So it will have 2 little holes.

Ok no big deal. I had planned on putting Hurst emblems on, since I just installed a hurst short throw shifter. My question has to do with whether or not the emblem is big enough to cover up the GT emblem guide holes.

Here's the emblem...it measures 5 inches across, the bar is 3/4" wide, the H is 1 1/4 " tall.

I found an example picture of the GT holes... Just need to really know the distance between the holes, to see if the emblem will cover em' up.

Well the Hurst emblem is 1-1/4" high by 5 -1/4". Measure out a piece of tape that size and put it over the holes and see how it looks.

I think he hasnt bought the fender yet, it looks like he wants to know if it will work before buying both of those.

Correct... the fender is at a auto salvage 140 miles away.

I don't know if it will help or not, I doubt it, but I just went outside and measured the GT badge and it's exactly 1 1/2" high. So presuming the two pins are right on the edges and you have at least 1/8" on each side you would be fine. If you could find out how far apart the holes are you could figure out the distance above and below that way, maybe the junkyard would be kind enough to pop one off.
If it came down to it, the tribar pony emblems from the pony package will cover those.

no way that's going to work. Like fitting an elephant through a drinking straw.

It should work if you place the "H" from the hurst emblem over the 2 offset hole in the fender... do the same for both sides.

ok, I just measured the alignment bars on the back of the GT emblem that came off my car and came up with a distance of ~1 1/8" and the center of the top hole is ~3/8" offset from the bottom hole

it appears that the Hurst emblem will just cover the holes up...I thinks it's going to be very close

Thanks Madscotsman & Ato, if this board would allow rep, some'd be coming your way.

Looks like a road trip is in my future.

If all else fails, it sounds like a tribar emblem is in my future. The cost to replace the fender via auto salvage is too good to pass up... less than 1/4 of the estimate I got at a couple of body shops.

If, it is in as good of shape as he claims.
