Default need help installing rear spoiler

ok my 09 v6 came without a rear spoiler. I got one from a member here a stock one off an 08 GT. Thing is I never installed one of these before so does anyone make a template for drilling the holes in the trunk lid for proper placement of the rear spoiler?

i don't know about a template, but all you have to do is, measure the distance, in relation to the edge of the trunk to the holes on the spoiler, write down the measurements then do the same on to the trunk, i would measure AT LEAST 5 times to ensure accuracy. since there are 4 holes also make sure to measure the distance between each hole and the distance from the holes to each top and bottom edge of the trunk, with enough patience it is a relatively easy project

Default NO template but its sorta easy open the trunk

Do you see the two oval spots???. Make a template of the spoiler stands to get the bolt pattern. I removed a stock V6 Pony Package on mine and went to the GT one recently.

If you would have posted this last week while it was off I could have made a pencil rubbing of the holes.

Interestinly my 2009 holes from factory only one of the four was perfectly round small bolt clearence. Two were stamped ovals sideways and one was round but larger diameter.

Do you want a digital picture of my trunk open showing the spoiler mounts??

I think you can handle it just use a small drill first to mark the holes then step drill up to size ya need to clear spoiler studs.

Did he give you the factory studs, Flange nuts, and the two white little seal washers that sit on the outside between the trunk and the spoiler???

Default He used the nuts and seal washers to mount his

Send me an email at tomtk3@wowway.com and I'll send you some pictures of the mounting area of trunk lid

I rolled up some windshield sealer putty the 60s and 70s style one(never hardens) and put a bead under each flange nut. It squished up when tightened and filled and sealed for sure
