The mufflers are Apexi carbon fiber 4" titanium tip commonly known in the redneck muscle car/import hating world as fart cans.
But if you look at a lot of the more popular axlebacks ie borla/fr500s etc the muffler bodies are very similar, however the manufactures to avoid negative reactions space the tips away from the bodies*allthough not in the fr500s case as the tip is integrated onto the muffler body though it is only a 3.5" tip* so as not to appear like a fart can. The insides for the most part consist of some type of louvered core with a straight through design utilizing some type of acoustical packing material for further sound deadening&tone control just like your typical fart can or glasspack.
I have used similar mufflers on all of my cars for a long time including several of my mustangs my srt-4 and even my 2000 C5 corvette with full SLP power package&comp cam, all with positive results granted some people don't like their apperance because they associate it with a buzzing import but they do sound good on bigger displacement motors for the most part and for some reason don't seem to drone as bad as say flows/macs/slps they are also a lot cheaper to purchase and do to their compact design easy to tuck up close to your bumper cutouts.

I hear DAILY some 4 cyl with a flowmaster muffler and it sounds completely HORRID!!!!!
the "fart cans" everyone is referring to is the same as many other straight through designs.....also I would like to point out that the roush exhaust uses the same size tips for all of you calling them "huge" tips.

I love the rear on the 2010 as well.... that being said, it was NOT my favorite part of the car when I bought it, but neither was the rear on my '05 GT either.
On another note.. I am running the Roush O/R Exhaust which has 4" tips and I have never heard anyone call them Fart Cans.... Most of the import Fart Cans I have seen are bigger than that
