Applies to pre-2008 S-197 Mustangs. Mine is a 2007.
moleskin is the way to go! when i bought my car (used) the tint was scratched BAD so after digging in here i bought some moleskin for 18bucks shipped from a member. easy install and worth it. had my tints for about 6 months with no issue.
So I should be ok when I get my tint? Or do 08+ vehicles still need moleskin?
Look on the interior bottom of your window. You should see felt on the channel that touches the window where it goes down into the door. It will definitely be on the exterior, so look for that same stuff on the inside...

Tint Protector Moleskin has an acyclic adhesive on the back. This means it won't come off when it gets wet or hot. It's big $$ to manufacture.
It's not the same crap "felt" you can buy at a hobby store. That stuff will fall off in a day or two if you install it inside your door panel. Been there done that!
Here is what it looks like installed on a weather strip.
