Default Tire size/wheel question

I just bought two brand new 265/35/18's off a friend of mine to use on the rear of my V6. I can get the 18" wheels from cruzin concepts for 118 plus shipping for either the 18x9 or 18x10 size. Which would the tires fit better on?

Wow. Those are nearly 2" less diameter than the stock 235/55/17's. Are you sure you want to do that? If you do, those 265's need a 9" wheel minimum. Your speedo will also be off by about 4.4 MPH fast so I hope you have a tuner.

Yeah, the car is going to be lowered after the wheels are installed. I'm going from stock 16's so it should be ok once the car is lowered. I'll go with the 18x10's to be safe.

Those tires are too short. Even if you lower the car, you will still have wheel gap. If you put the 265/35/18 in the front. The best match for the rear would be 275/40/18. The difference in tire size would be about 1.3" Keep in mind the tire diameter does not increase with an increase in rim size. The stock 16", 17", 18" rims all come with tires around 27" in diameter.

Way to small JT! If you look online you can find some cheap tires that will better match your car. I'd try to resell those tires you got from the friend, just IMO. If you are going with 18's, the most common size front tire is a 255/45-18 and rear of a 285/40-18. Those could be had on the staggered 18x9 and 18x10 setup. I just got 20's, and the 26.9" diameter on my lowered car is almost too small. I hope this helps.

The smaller tires do have more space, I run the 17s, It doesnt look like the tipical mustang with the waggon wheel look, I dont mind the look I have and thats whats important to me. I do like the improved performance along with the lower gearing from running the smaller tires. I have lowered my center of gravity down considerable too without the radical suspension drop. I will add mild drop someday but the car is fuctionable on the crap roads of Kansas. I bought top of the line tires for traction not tall cheap tires for looks. No offence to anybody on there choices. If I was to do it again I would like to go to the 18s The added cost of new rims were out for now. Make the best out of performance with your modifications or you will be taking a step backwards!

This website should help you decide on your tire and rim size choice.

lol thanks but did not take calculis in HS , man that site seems a lot more than I'm wanting figure, off set, ect, ect, hell i like a site where asks what car and year, and says here's all your choices, but thanks. plus as I'm learning everyday 2010 so different, my OEM wheels are 19, even tire rack shows 18's as stock and 19's a optional ford size, but seems 19 is the standard nowadays.
