Default Super Snake Stripe - Vinyl Only?

Can you only achieve a good looking flat black stripe with vinyl or could it be done with paint? What is involved with the upkeep of a flat black stripe? I assume you would have to be very careful when washing/waxing the car.

You can do paint.. but you need to take it to a bodyshop and have it professionally painted on. With vinyl, I have rocker stripes and I'm very careful with them when I wash/wax. The same would probably apply with racing stripes.

Paint is the best route if you can afford it and want to keep the design for a very long time.

How does that work for paint, no clearcoat on top? How do you seal/protect it? Anyone here done this with paint?

I personally never done painted stripes, but there are a few on here that have them painted. I do believe the painted stripes do get clear coated and sealed in. Perhaps the guys/gals can chime in and provide better feedback on the process.

Mine has clear coat but I used non-metallic gloss black.

You keep the hood taped off after painting the semi-gloss black and then spray it with flat clear.

It can be done one of two ways. Either paint plus a flat or satin clear, or a flat one stage paint with clear already mixed in.
