I was all ready to go get some vinyl matte black stripes put on.

Then I saw a mustang in a parking lot with black stripes that were peeling off.

I don't want to lay down 300+ bucks for something that's gunna peel off.
I'm definitely not painting...way too much money.

So is this typical, or was it just a poor install. I don't want those suckers coming off.

It must have been a very inexpensive set of stripes. A good quality set of stripes will last a while. I'd recommend BaltimoreStreetMods for any/all stripe kits. Excellent product/customer service. Check out their website, they also sell on ebay. Good luck!

See how much it would cost to have a coat of clear coat sprayed over the vinyl stripes. It would help make them last longer.

I have the matte black stripes on my car for almost 2 years and no problem. I had no idea how to install them too, and i still managed it.

Maybe just a poor quality stripe kit. I had mine for over 2 years with no issues. Withstood all kinds of weather conditions.

The vinyl stripes on my car have been on since August 2006 with no problems. I do a lot of driving every day with my job. The bumpers are painted to match but the hood and trunk are still vinyl -

(I hated the the look of the license plate opening and had to replace the rear bumper so said just paint both bumpers for now until I get a new hood)
