I had thought the stock hood is aluminum on you rust question.

Screw it just take a drill and drive that bad boy through the hood. Just kidding. I did mine and it stressed me out after just spending cash to paint the hood and stripes.

I like the Shelby hood pins but the stupid ring pops out of the holes in my pins every damn time you try to close them. Figure it is payback for putting a shelby part on a roush.

Mine do the same thing, I just squeeze the ring a little as Im turning it over and that seems to work.

The hood could start rusting if you got the steel hood pins (not sure if shelby still sells them or not) do to some effect of different metals in constant contact, the less noble one will rust. Its a problem that the 07 Shelby GT's have due to the steel hood pins.

The holes that were drilled in my hood from the factory have been sealed off with some type of black silicone sealant (RTV?). That helps keep the metals from constant contact and keeps the hood pin from damaging anything if they fell slightly out of alignment.

I have a new set of the plain Shelby Billet hood pins that I couldn't use on my Cervinis Concept hood because of where I wanted the pins to be in the hood. My pins come though the Concept hood right at the area where the hood raises. The Billet pins would not sit flat on the hood so I used the Shelby pins with the stainless scuff plates so I could put a slight bend in the plates.(Picture Below)

If anyone's interested the Shelby Billet pins are for sale.
