Default C/S Bumper painting ??

I searched prior to posting so I will apologize if this has been
done to death.

My 06 GT was rear ended last Fall, chat n run-guy took off. I
decided to get a C/S rear bumper. So car is in the shop and
my body guy is not liking this bumper. Understand, he's a "Classic"
kind of guy. He thinks the little bit of texture on the lower
part of the bumper <sides under the side marker lights>
will make my car look like crap. He hasn't seen a C/S so
he doesn't know. In fact the C/S owners don't even realize there is a slight
texture there, but its painted and cleared and I think it
looks just find and not noticible unless your are touching
it.

Here's my question, LOL. Not that I am sure I do in fact
have the correct part, on the rear black ground effects
between the tail pipes...anyone painting this a mat black
finish? My concern is just having that plain greyish plastic
out there uncoated. It can fade and lose it's color.

Anyone mat paint that area? And if so did you do a grey
or a black?

Thx

it might be clear coated, not a 100 percent tho. but i am sure there is no paint on that part, just on the side for the GTCS'

the reason for the texture is, the gt500s and cal specs share the same rear bumper.

Off topic a bit, but where, and how much did you get that bumper for?

I looked at my friend's and it's not painted/cleared. I'm either going to wait and see if in a couple of years it fades OR paint it mat. So like flip a coin yes? LOL

When you talk to your local ford dealer quote the prices from tousley ford parts and you can get one for about $275.

I'm wondering if your "Classic" body man is just whining cuz it's a little extra work for him to mask and tape that area so it won't get painted???

i personally wouldnt worry about it fading. the GT500 came out in 2007. so there are 4 year old 500s out there. and i havent heard of any fading issues.

I'm looking at the Tousley website and seeing a price at $368 and change.

What do you know that I don't?:-)
