Scoop/Stripe Install Help!!!

Ok I have order a xenon hood scoop and I am going to order some Matte Black Rally stripes for the stang. No one sells a kit precut for the xenon scoop but I keep reading that you just install them under the scoop.

Now im not a genius or anything but wouldnt that cause issues with the 3m tape sticking?

Has anyone installed a 3m'ed scoop over vinyl stripes???

Issues?

You would put the stripes down on the hood and then install the scoop on top of the stripes. Shouldn't be a problem with the stripes sticking to the hood.

but wouldnt that cause a problem with the scoop sticking since its only held on by 3m?

I don't know. I'm not sure how the hood scoop mounts to the hood. I thought it had some bolts also that held it on.

I have heard that mounting a scoop on top of stripes is a no-no unless you get a scoop where you drill in the hood.

Then you have to be careful about drilling into the stripes and not messing them up.
But I don't think it would be THAT hard if you know how to drill good.

I have heard of some people that actually cut into the vinyl stripes once they are on the car (cutting a space where the scoop will be so that it makes contact with the actual hood and not just the vinyl)... but I have also heard that is risky too because you can easily scratch your hood or mess up the stripes or both.

To answer your question... I would not trust 3M holding on to vinyl alone and not the hood itself.

If I was gonna put a scoop on and I had vinyl stripes I would ONLY do it if they were precut or if I had a scoop with drilling required and had someone to drill for me if I did not have experience with such a task.
