Default Thinking about getting a second hood to mod.

Well, I really love the looks of my smooth OEM hood, but there are times when I want one that's a little more "flashy". I was thinking about purchasing a second OEM redfire hood with the hood scoop, striping said hood in my stripe style, and then putting shelby hood pins on it. So if I feel showy, I can put on the tricked out hood, and if I store the car for an extended period I can put on the OEM hood. Another benefit would be evident if one of the hoods were to be damaged. Does anyone see any problems that might arise from this?

you can just also mount a hood scoop on the factory hood and hood pins instead of buying another factory hood to do that too. that would seem a lot simpler

I think he's wanting the option of be able to switch between plain and flashy just by swapping out his hoods. Not a bad idea but kind of expensive.

Seems expensive and I would fear the extra hood getting scratched/damaged while in storage but if you have the money and will to do it, go for it. Just make sure you're careful

Sounds like more trouble than it's worth imo. And I'm pretty sure once you get the modified hood on there you'll never (or hardly ever) go back to stock

keep your eye on ebay and craigslist. you can find one for $200 or less. storage won't be problem if you have the garage space. i'm looking for a third one.

Wow Nite, you're lucky you have so much space to keep one hood! Let alone two! My garage is crammed enough as it is with my car and my dads. I really wish I had enough room to get a new hood.

Instead of an OEM hood, why not a "flashy" new after-market hood like from Cervinis?
The problem with the OEM hood is the TSB Aluminum Corrosion that will eventually surface. I believe all Mustangs 2005-2009 are affected.
