Here's the inside of mine;

Thanks for the interior pic - that helps me visualize it better.

Just a thing to remember for all who plan to do this, paint the louvers a black primer first so the bright color of the exterior is not what you see when you look out the quarter glass.

I don't mind having a little Vista Blue peaking through. Inside my car, I have blue accents anyway.

Funny you should ask because my daughter asked the same question when I brought it home.
Yes, it's a clear, very strong plexiglass in between. On the SHR weblink provided above, you will see them test the strength by parking a truck on top of them.

I installed mine myself. Only issue I had was the sealant I got from SHR was a bit hardened. It was REALLY hard to squeeze the sealant out with a calking gun. The sealant tube agreed since it eventually busted in the middle of the job.

I had to let the louver with sealant half-applied dry so I could remove it with a razor mess-free.

Then I went to Autozone and got some 3M window sealant and it was much easier to use. Although the stuff in SHR's kit was also 3M. It clearly had a problem - maybe it had expired or been stored too hot, too cold - something.
