SHR Louver came loose

SHR Louver came loose
Luck it never flew off the road, the whole bottom and sides are no longer sealed, just the top part, I can bend it back and see the dried up glue.
This time I will do the job myself. I did buy the adheavise and sealer from SHR when I ordered the louvers.
What can I use to remove the glue?
Has this ever happened to anyone ? I did pay for a install, which was a crap job.

wow, mine have done the same. i think the heat is the problem. you will have to take them off completely and take all the old sealant off with a utility knife.
to reapply i am going to sand the louver a little so its not as smooth and then use a different adheasive that is made for plastic and metal probably, not a windshield specific one. I will also find away to clatch the louver in place until dry.
Best of luck!

One of mine came loose, the drivers side right along the leading edge and rearward about 4". The front of the louvre could be pulled out a bit.
I guess I was lucky it didn't decide to leave the party on the highway.
They were professionally installed by a local [large] shop 2 years ago so I took the car in and they fixed them up no problem for free.. In fact they removed and reattached them both.

You have to use the black urethane used by the pros...
Not that 3M stuff that comes in a roll and never hardens.
The good stuff comes in a tube that you put in a caulking gun.
Also, it pays to have it professionally installed for the reasons that Markus went through.

i used the stuff that SHR sent me too, its in a tube. when i took the louvers off there was absoluty no residue from the urthane on the louvers themselves. I was shocked. the louvers look like they have never been applied except for the sealant i tried to use while i was in maryland and had no tools. that actually stuck to both the metal body and the louver

in my case the shop used the poo-in-a-tube stuff. When the louvre lifted I could see it was stuck to the frame and had pulled off the louvre.
I'm guessing the guy that did the original install hadn't prepped the louvre properly which is why they redid the whole job.
Fingers crossed that's the end of the problem...

Well guys, sorry to hear about all your problems with these...
I haven't had any issues with any of the ones that were installed in my shop (nor the customers that did it themselves so far).
I have known my glass man for years now and I knew he could handle this.
Like always, the trick is good prep...
