Default Help with hood pin install

Hey guys,

Just recently bought these hood pins http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FMS-M-16700-A/

My concern is what if they are not long enough? I'm pretty nervous as it is about drilling into my hood. Has anyone installed these or similar ones? They measure just under 4" total length. I'm wondering if I need longer ones? Any help would be much appreciated.

Where & how do you plan on installing them on the car?

I had a set of hood pins on my last car, but not these. Below are a few pictures to show where mine were installed. I do not know exactly how long the vertical pins were, but I remember them being long enough for plently of adjustment.

I say you'll need at least 6 inches but then again, you might fall short still...

Seriously, I think they come 5" long...
I have a used set at work, I'll double check.

I checked with FRPP, and they're supposed to fit our gen car. I was thinking I had to go completely through the radiator support. I'm just going to go through the top portion, which will give me an extra inch to play with.

05 Mustang, thanks for posting the pics. I was torn where to mount mine, but you helped me decide. I'm going to use the same spot as you did, they came out looking really good.

You're welcome. Post some pictures after you get them installed.

ya wtf is the deal with that? my "shelby" pin lanyards turned this ugly rust brown and the rubber insulation is actually cracking and falling off... where can you get replacment lanyards?

and OP, the location is important. im not sure where the cowl portion starts on your hood, but if you space them out like we have them, then usually the pins need be a lil long cause they need to go through this metal tunnel and etc, its a headache. i think the ones that bolt onto the radiator support dont need to be as long.

I just bought the scott drake ones today cuz out of the 40 or so threads I read, they all said the FRPP ones rusted and needed to be cleaned at least monthly. Well poop. I guess I'll see when they get here.
