Making the Bullitt look more 1968 than 2008..

IMO, if you want a retro look, one of the first things you do is remove badging and anything else that says, "Bullitt." The movie car didn't have any of that. Obviously.
BTW, I was also about 26 when I saw the movie in the theater. From time to time I take a walk and look at the flat where Bullitt lived. The corner grocery store where he bought his frozen food is still there.

From what I understand, they made a fiberglass piece that went over the existing rear. Some were saying it weighed too much. There has got to be a way to make it work! It looks sooooo SEXY!

I drooled the first time I saw that years ago and I still do.
Too bad it was so expensive.
If it wasn't my car would be looking that way in black right this second!
I first fell in love with the Mustang in high school.
A guy down the block from me back in 94 or so had a orange 69 Mach 1 he had restored with black stripes.
He was selling it and I saved up for a long time to buy it.
Once I had the money I took my father to see it.
We test drove it and he romped on it.
After we were done he said this:
"Well son this is one HELL of a Mustang. Reminds me of my fastback I had in high school. But there's just
one catch I want to tell you also. Even though it is one HELL of a Mustang... there is no way in HELL I am
going to let you buy it because you will wind up killing yourself."
I was SO ANGRY but as I look back he was probably right.
But some day I WILL own a car like that.
I WILL!

was literally a glint in my daddy's eye when that movie hit the screens (entered this world in march of '69 so do the math) so i can't say i saw it on the big screen but was probably 12 or 13 when i first saw it on late night tv. i've had a stiffie for 'stangs ever since. drove a '68 notchback 302 thru high school and college. gave it up a while back but then got me a 2011 5.0 this year. i like to pop in lalo schifrin's "shifting gears" on the cd player when i'm tooling 'round the 'hood. and, to stay on topic, the late model bullitts are suh-weet!

I would do this hood to give more of a '68 appearance.

I love those bumpers from Retro Solutions. But they want so much money for the parts. I'd rather do a GT500 nose swap. Roughly the same money.
here are some more options for your Bullitt. I also have SHR Louvers to slap on there, but it's been raining cats/dogs lately.
