Default Aftermarket Seats

I logged on tonight and saw a posting for leather seats and thought someone was reading my mind. Well not quite...I am wondering if anyone out there has installed aftermarket seats in their S197. I was going to add to the other post, but I didnt want to hijack the thread.

I have looked at several manufacturers...Sparco, Recarro, Corbeau, Ford Racing. I did notice that Ford did finally release the recarros from the Boss 302; holy crap...$2,700.

The ones I thought would look the best, for a reasonable price, are Corbeau GTS II. They seem to be a good match for the interior and they have a fairly stock look but they do seem to add significant bolstering.

Has anyone installed these or seen anyone that has? Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jake

My understanding is that some of those aren't technically street legal in certain places so be careful. Not sure that any cop would ever know but just sayin for liability purposes

I hadnt thought about that. I actually dont live in Alaska anymore...i live in Maine now, better change my profile.
They have state inspection laws here but they are pretty loose. It really depends on where you take it and whether they think they can take advantage of you or not.
Im not really sure if im gonna change the seats or not but i really want to start upgrading the interior and the stock seats, although very comfortable, do not offer much support for spirited driving.

Just install some new take off leathers. I did and it feels like completely new seats. 2011 leathers do fit our years model. Cost me $295 shipped via ebay.

Wow. So the core of the seat on the 05-09 is exactly the same? Who was the vendor you bought them from? Full leather or just a partial?

Yes I had the boring *** dove grey cloth. Thread detailing my install with links. This mod was the best bang for the buck mod I have done.......and I have a lot of mods. LOL If you have cloth get this leather and you will feel like you have a new car. Its full leather front and back seats with head rests too.

Personally I really like the GTS-2 seats. Just like you said, stock look with added bolstering. I have seen them installed on plenty of 04 and earlier stangs and im sure Corbeau makes the appropriate brackets. And If they don't stock them they should be able to make them just give them a call. I've sat in the seats too and they are pretty comfortable. Compared to their other "race style" reclinable seats they are more comfortable and much easier to get in and out of. One of the biggest differences is that they arent so tight in the shoulder area and they allow for more movement for DD. JMO

Thanks boomtown96...im a little hesitant about throwing down the money because the stock seats are actually quite comfortable. I have the power leather and they work well for my hour commute each way. They just arent that good when i take an off ramp at 75 mph...
You mentioned that the gts2's are "pretty comfortable". How are they compared to the stock seats?
