I bought this gas cap for about $85 and got it today-and it will work -very easy! the cap IS the same size as the faux one on the rear and the gas cap hardware came off using a philips head screwdriver on three screws holding the hardware to the back! No damage at all to the cap itself and it is flush so it requires no sanding or cuting -just 3M tape!

Ahhh, good question...
Damn you for bringing up good points. lol

Anyway, OP when you get it installed post up some pics! I saw these caps on eBay not that long ago and wondered the same thing about the tri bar cap.
